Collector’s Corner: Carole Lombard Tobacco Cards
Helen L. on the other hand is an avid collector of these cards and she took over 3 months to compile this comprehensive list for all the Lombard tobacco card collectors out there. She writes:
“These are all original vintage from the 1930-1940’s mostly - nothing current on this list. I now have starting collecting Carole tobacco cards a few months ago - I buy them when they are cheap. However, there are some that sell for $50!!! Yikes.”
“I wanted to let you know that about 90% of this information I have on this list below came from auditting Troy Kirk’s website [moviecard.com] and doing a search of every list. Since his lists are not all complete and new cards are always being found, this list below is definately not ‘final’, but it’s a very good start . . . I have also provided the actual link to the page where the information can be found about that card.”

is there a difference between these and cigarette cards? i know for viv and larry there are quite a number of cig. cards but most of them have a hand drawn picture rather than an actual photograph
Cigarette cards, tobacco cards, etc they are all the same thing. I recommend all you card collectors to take a good look at Troy Kirks website moviecard.com where he has compiled a phenomenal list of cards available from all over the world. Cards that not only were in cigarettes, but gum, chocolates, tea, you name it. I was able to not only create a master list of my favorite actors there - he has cards for sale. I recommend that anyone purchasing cards try TROY first - he should reap some kind of reward for his hard work. And if you have a card that is not on one of his lists - then send him an email with a scan of the front and back and size of card so he can add it to his lists. His site covers cards from all over the world.
Once I finished my audit of Carole Lombard and Cary Grant (I collect Cary Grant) I sent Troy my audit lists. So if you compile one using his lists on a specific actor then please take the time to send it to him and thank him for his website.
