WANTED: Bombshell & Screwball

Have you ever seen a photograph with both Carole Lombard and Jean Harlow in it?

I have been searching like a madcap and contacting Harlow archivists around the globe, to no avail. I find it bizarre as the two were very good friends and attended the same private gatherings and social functions. The best bet would be the 1936 Academy Awards (held in 1937) for which Gable and Lombard arrived with Powell and Harlow.

I would like to include one in the book I am currently writing about Carole. If anyone has one or knows of one please contact me at: info@carolelombard.org.

Good luck, I hope you find one! may I suggest contacting someone in special collections at the margaret herrick library in beverly hills? they have a treasure trove of pictures waiting to be used and they’re super helpful! i think they will be especially since you’re doing a book!

PS, have you ever seen one of Carole and Vivien in the same photo, other than the group shot at the gwtw wrap party? i always wondered if they were kind of friends

Would the Oscar people have on in their archives? I hope so. I’ve always wanted to see that photo of the 4 of them.

I’ve spoken with a few individuals at the Margaret Herrick library and hopefully I’ll have some luck when I’m there in two weeks.

I don’t think I’ve seen one of just Viv and Carole but I’ll add that to my list!! I’m sure they were friendly with one another though I wouldn’t say they were the best of chums. Besides GWTW events I don’t think they saw much of each other. They didn’t really have much of a chance seeing as how GWTW was in 1939 and Carole passed on in 1942

I know there is a photo out there somewhere of Lombard, Gable, Powell and Harlow at the 1937 Academy Awards! I JUST KNOW IT. I’m on the hunt too my dear!

As for Viv & Carole, I have seen one other one. Clark & Carole visited Viv on the set of Waterloo Bridge at one point. There is one picture of Clark & Viv with his hand around her waist, and another with Robert Taylor, Carole, Clark & Viv all sitting in director’s chairs talking. I have it somewhere. I’ll pass it along!

I would love to see a photo of them together. I have been a Harlow fan for many years. She’s my favorite. I had seen Carole Lombard’s bio on the Biography Channel awhile ago and came to be a fan of hers as well. I saw a few of her movies too. I love Carole. She had such an amazing spirit about her. She was an awesome person. I am looking forward to reading your book about her as well.

Thanks for sharing all of this about her. I really treasure it.
